Made in China
The Handsewn Mule is a modern interpretation of a classic open-back mule is built on a slim sole and elevated with luxury materials and a high level of craft. Made from vegetable-tanned leather, they feature a one-piece upper, hand-sewn Goodyear construction, and leather wrap.
All FEIT shoes are made from start to finish by one master craftsman. The one-piece upper is sewn by hand directly to the midsole. A cork footbed and a bamboo shank stabilizer are added, before cementing the leather outsole to the midsole using a natural, water-based glue. We refer to this process as a modified handsewn Goodyear construction — this method ensures all FEIT shoes can be resoled.
How it's made
FEIT pay homage towards quality and sustainability, and their design is built for longevity, made from natural materials via human construction. All FEIT footwear is hand cut, hand stitched (with awl, needle and thread) and hand lasted by a master shoe maker. The same shoe maker follows the whole production of a pair of shoes from hand cutting the leather, to finishing the shoe after construction. FEIT believes that producing by hand from natural materials creates a superior product and wearing experience. Human decision-making allows the maker to use their materials judiciously and to adapt and improve the product as needed during construction. Each pair is numbered, and signed by the maker.
At the core of FEIT is an original set of lasts developed in Civitanova Marche, Italy with the help of Feit founder Tull Price’s favorite last maker: Veddicio Padrone. Soles are developed in partnership with Vibram Italy or France-based Lactae Hevea. Leathers are sourced from tanneries specializing in vegetable dyeing in the Tuscan region of Italy, and suedes are sourced from England’s most prestigious dress shoe suppliers.
All shoes are handsewn in southern China, where Tull has assembled and trained a small team of makers known for their strength and dexterity in the declining art of handmade shoes.
This style is built from semi cordovan leather that is tanned slowly, nourished with natural oils, and shaved. The use of this highly luxurious and elevated skin allows the foot to breathe and because it is much softer, it does not require breaking in. Perfect to be worn barefoot in the transitional Spring months.
Love & Care
Protect your investment
In rainy or wet conditions, clean your shoes with a water and a clean cloth to avoid white marks appearing on the upper. If your leather-soled shoes become wet, leave them to dry on their sides to allow the water to run off more easily. In addition, to increase the lifetime of your shoes, we recommend alternating shoes, instead of wearing the same pair several days running.
Well before you notice that your shoes are becoming damaged, take the time to take care of them regularly. To do so properly, you’ll need to follow a few simple steps.
Light cleaning: Use warm water and soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt.
Deep cleaning: For heavily soiled areas, use a good leather cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather to dry.
Apply a high quality shoe cream, like Saphir’s creme 1925, with a clean, soft cloth. Shine the boot by brushing with a soft horse-hair brush. This will give much needed moisture to the leather, while giving protection against the elements and added shine.
We recommend treating leather soles every now and then, for example with Saphir's Sole Guard oil, to limit premature wear of leather soles by reducing abrasion and penetration of salt and moisture into the leather.
When using a new product for the first time, we recommend testing shoe creams and conditioners on an inconspicuous part of the shoe before applying it the the rest of the shoe.
Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Saphir's Super Invulner spray waterproofs the most delicate leathers, and offers superior protection against water, snow, stains and grease.
FEIT shoes fit true to size on most customers. If you are between sizes, we suggest sizing up.
