Lambskin leather is beyond beautiful. It is as soft as leather can come and will make you feel as if you have a luxurious second skin. While it is beautiful and can make you feel wonderful, it is also more difficult to take care of because it is so fragile. Luckily, with a few simple lambskin leather care tips, you can have your lamb and wear it too!
Before wearing your lambskin leather jacket it might be a good idea to apply a good lambskin protectant. You need to choose one that is made specifically for delicate leather. The best way to apply the protectant is to spray it on evenly, instead of rubbing it onto the leather.
When it is time to do some cleaning to your leather jacket. Be very careful because it is tough to clean without darkening the leather. To begin, you'll simply need a clean, soft cloth. Take your cloth and slowly wipe the stain in a gentle manner. Do not scrub and do not use water. This will only stain your jacket. If you have multiple, tough stains or excessive dirt and grim, it is best to let a professional clean your jacket.
As with any leather, conditioning your lambskin leather is essential. This is the only way to prevent it from drying out and cracking. It is vital that you find a leather conditioner that works well on lambskin in order to prevent any damage. If you are unsure, try it on a inconspicuous area first to determine its effectiveness. Since conditioners may darken the leather a shade, pre-test in a hidden spot. When you pre-test, use a white cloth and look for the following results. 1. Colour on the cloth. 2. Change to colour of leather one hour after application. It either happens, use the leather care products sparingly.
Store your lambskin leather properly.
- Use a padded hanger to retain the jacket's shape.
- Do not cover lambskin leather in plastic as this will cause it to dry out.
- Do not store lambskin leather in direct sunlight.
- Store your lambskin in a cool, dry space, not hot and moist.
