Made in USA
The Blucher with Kiltie has a genuine moccasin construction with plug, overcast and heel all sewn by hand. The moccasin is made in the USA from Horween chromexcel leather upper. It has a 100% natural rubber camp sole which gives it a fantastic and comfortable feel to your feet.
The blucher moccasin was popularised in the 1950s and 60s as a formalised variation of the lace-up moccasin, more commonly experiences as a boat shoe. The blucher provided a more sophisticated, elongated silhouette, reminiscent of the style of dress shoe with which it shared its name. Yuketen's Blucher with Kiltie delivers this urban moccasin in a more contoured, moulded fit.
The three-eyelet, unlined shoe is made with Horween Chromexcel leather. Chromexcel is a buttery, malleable "pull-up" leather born of a unique double-tanning process of vegetable and chrome treatments, which imbues the leather with pleasantly aromatic liquor notes. Its suppleness, revealing of lighter tones in its oiled surface when stretched, makes it particularly suitable for moccasin construction. Important design details are the lace-in kiltie nestled under the blucher pieces, our signature baseball stitch overcast, and pinking decoration on the heel seam cover, all of which contribute a touch of elegance to this updated moccasin silhouette.
A beautiful shoe bag in blue check pattern follows with the box.
How it's made
Each shoe is hand-stitches in Yuketen's Maine factory using a three-dimensional pattern. To closely mirror the incongruence of the human foot and deliver a molded fit, seven asymmetrical pieces of leather are hand-punched and hand-sewn with awl, needle, and thread on Yuketen's proprietary last. The result is that the "blucher" pieces are asymmetrical, and contour more accurately to the wearer's foot during lacing. The base of the vamp has been cinched to further ensure an integumentary fit.
Love & Care
Light cleaning: Use warm water and soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt.
Deep cleaning: For heavily soiled areas, use a clean cloth or brush to apply any leather cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather to dry.
Proper conditioning helps preserve the finish and life of your footwear. Use a natural oil or natural leather conditioner. You can apply these conditioners with your fingers, a soft cloth or sponge.
Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Use a Leather Protector to provide an invisible shield from water, dirt, oil and mud.
A new pair of Yuketen should fit comfortably tight on your foot, with enough room to freely wiggle your toes. Over time the full grain leather upper, leather footboard and cork midsole mold to your feet, creating an enduring and customized fit over time with each wear.
