Love & Care

Caring properly for your garment is an important task in prolonging its life. Take care of your garment, and treat it with love & care, and it will last longer.

Wool is one of the most hardwearing fabrics, with a natural stretch and breathability that allows it to dissipate any moisture it might absorb. However, for all its considerable resilience, wool do still require care to keep it looking at its best.

Handwash
Hand washing is essentially a slow soak for ten minutes followed by a rinse in lukewarm water. To get rid of excess water, roll your garment up in a towel and gently press to absorb. Then, using a fresh towel, lay your garment out flat, preferably in the sunshine.

Gentle machine wash
You should not wash your wool garment too often, but you cannot avoid the inevitable, and in one time or another you will have to wash your garment. When it is time to do so, turn your garment inside out, use a detergent specialized for wool, wash on wool program on gentle cycle, with similar colours and without any fabric softener. Make sure not to crowd the machine with too many items at once. This can twist or pull the wool out of shape. Do not tumble dry. After machine-washing, gently reshape and lay out flat to dry.

Stains
If you should find yourself dealing with a potential stain, immediately apply a solvent-based stain remover such as eucalyptus oil. Apply it in small amounts, working inwards on the stain to avoid it from spreading.

Loose threads
Sometimes it might appear a loose thread coming out from the surface of your garment. This is an easy fix with the help of a needle. Buy a woolen needle (0,5mm), start from the interior of the garment where the loose thread is located, use the needle to loop the loose thread on the exterior of the fabric, and pull the loose thread through to the interior side of the garment. Easy fix!

Lint Pilling
Lay out your garment flat, follow the grain of the fabric and very gently use a razor to remove the pilling. After you’ve removed the pilling, use a lint roller to remove loose lint pilling from the woolen surface. An easy fix is also to buy the Pilo Fabric Shaver at our Home section. An efficient fabric razor where removing lint pilling is made easy without damaging the garment.

Repair your garment
After continuous wear your garment might need some extra maintenance. No worries! Contact a local tailor and get it repaired. If you have none, we will gladly help you out! Please read our Repair Service & Repair Policy for more information.
